Heating season 2023 – Information for tenants

The cool weather has arrived, marking the start of the home heating season.

M2-Kodit’s apartments are equipped with an energy-optimising artificial intelligence-based system that measures the temperature and humidity of the apartments in real time and uses this information to proactively adjust the heating in the apartments. The aim of the control is not only to ensure a constant temperature and good living conditions in the apartments, but also to reduce energy consumption and costs. A one-degree reduction in the temperature of the dwelling reduces energy demand by 5 %.

Due to the control of the intelligent heating system, the temperature of the water supplied to the radiators changes several times a day. So the radiators may feel cool for a while, even if it is freezing outside. Nevertheless, the aim is to maintain a constant temperature in the home. In autumn, when the temperature outside varies greatly, i.e. it is warmer during the day and cooler at night, the radiators are not yet on full time. When it is cool outside all day long, this is also reflected in the radiators being on.

The AI-based energy saving system is part of our sustainable housing strategy. We aim to be a carbon neutral landlord by 2035. Energy-efficient solutions also contribute to the annual pressure to increase rents, as rents cover the costs of living in the building.

What if my home is too cold?

Please note that the front of the radiators should be unobstructed to ensure correct operation of the thermostats. Thick curtains or other furniture should not be placed over or in front of radiators, which may prevent the thermostat from working properly.

If you notice that the temperature in your home is below the target or you feel draughts in the seals of windows or doors, report the problem to your property management company. If necessary, they will carry out a temperature check measurement in your home and plan possible corrective measures. The temperature is measured at a height of 110 cm and at a distance of 60 cm from wall surfaces.

The target temperature in the living area of your home during the heating season is between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius.
